HPV
AAPD supports measures to prevent oral and oropharyngeal cancer (OOPC), including prevention of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, a key risk factor for oral squamous cell carcinoma. AAPD encourages oral health care providers to educate families about HPV and OOPC, discuss HPV vaccination, routinely screen for concerning oral changes, and incorporate evidence-based HPV prevention strategies into practice.

Tobacco & Nicotine
