Jordan Valley offers 4 positions each year in our 24-month Pediatric Dental Residency Program.

Description

Serving the underserved by educating the next generation of Pediatric Dentists.

Our residency program is a comprehensive pediatric dental residency focused on enhancing the lives and health of our most vulnerable patient populations. Through innovative and integrated approaches, we ensure each patient is treated holistically. We employ an evidence-based, collaborative, integrated approach – working alongside other physicians and support staff to meet all our patients’ needs.

Curriculum

Jordan Valley Clinical Experiences
Residents will spend 95 weeks participating in supervised clinics experiences in Jorrdan Valley’s ambulatory clinics, including:

• Integrated dental clinics
• Express Care
• Procedure clinic
• Integrated women’s and children’s clinic
• Off Service Rotations

Residents will gain experience in inpatient settings through our partnerships with local hospitals:

• 1 week in Endocrinology at CoxHealth
• 1 week in PICU at CoxHealth
• 1 week in Hematology/Oncology at Mercy

Residents will also gain:

• 4 weeks’ experience in pediatric medicine
• 4 weeks’ experience in community outreach

Didactics and Research
Residents will gain a foundational understanding of key concepts in pediatric dentistry through 5.5 hours of didactic experiences each week during the program.

Residents will be supported in developing, conducting, and presenting findings from a research project focused on implementation of best-practices in community outreach with 2 hours of dedicated time each week.

Program Stipend and Tuition

Our residents will earn a salary of $67,144 in PGY1 and $69,133 in PGY2. Other benefits include:

• All residents receive 180 hours of PTO per year
• 9 paid Holidays per year
• JVH covers course fees for BLS, PALS, and ACLS
• Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance options provided for residents and eligible dependents.
• Long-Term Disability
• Fees for licensure and/or renewal paid by the program
• Malpractice Insurance is provided at no cost to the resident for activities associated with the residency program.
• Program pays for incoming and outgoing resident exams, and ABPD Written/Part 1 Boards.
• Program covers cost for all program-approved CE (including cost to attend and present at AAPD conference in PGY2)
• Optional enrollment in vision, dental, and life insurance
• Optional enrollment in Jordan Valley Health’s employee benefit plans
• Optional enrollment in dependent care or medical flexible spending. This benefit has no employer match, but allows for intern pre-tax contribution.
• Mileage reimbursement as defined in the Jordan Valley Health Policy

Our program has no tuition.

Admission Requirements

Eligible Pediatric Dental resident applicants will:

• Have an earned DDS or DMD degree from a dental program in the US accredited by CODA & ADA, or a dental program in Canada accredited by CODA of Canada & the ADA, or an international dental school that provides and equivalent educational background and standing as determined by the Program Director
• Have achieved a passing score on Part I of National Board Dental Examination (NBDE) prior to application and Part II (or the Integrated National Dental Board Examination) by start of residency
• Be able to obtain a permanent dental license from the state of Missouri by the start of the program
• Hold permanent US citizenship status
