The virtual externship for interested candidates will be held on second Monday of May and June from 6-7PM MST. The program offers limited in-person externships (10-15 spots) from March to May of each year. In addition to participating in didactic seminars, our externs get an opportunity to shadow our program faculty and residents in the pediatric, orthodontic, and in patient clinics including operating rooms. Please reach out to Ms. Chelsea Dickerson (chelsea.dickerson@childrenscolorado.org) to sign up for virtual or in-person externships.
We only provide externship opportunities to third- or fourth-year students from doctoral and advanced standing programs or dental graduates. For in person externship, you will need to provide:

The Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program at the Children’s National Hospital offers a three-day externship. Externs will have the opportunity to join the didactic seminars, meet the attendings and pediatric dental residents, shadow at the pediatric dental clinic and the operating room. The externship is only available to current dentists and dental students from CODA accredited programs within the United States. The Advanced Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC offers a one-week externship. You will have the opportunity to shadow our pediatric dental residents at the pediatric dental clinic at USC and at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. JHMC Peds Dentistry will be hosting open-house opportunities virtually in October 2024. There will be a 2nd virtual interview for those that attend their open house. After the 2nd virtual individualized interview, candidates will be invited for a tour and a personalized visit.

Externship Application Steps
The externship is only for observation; you will not be having direct contact with the patient. You can only do a maximum of 3 days.
- Email Ms. Reardon, the Residency Program Coordinator with several tentative dates in which you would like to do the externship, Kelly.Reardon@nicklaushealth.org.
- Complete the attached application and supplemental documentation and submit to Ms. Kelly Reardon. Confirm that all the documentation required has been submitted, as well as the application.
- Once confirmed that all the documentation required has been submitted, Ms. Reardon will send you an email confirming the scheduled dates for the Externship.
Prepare for your Externship
- Upon arrival to the dental clinic (3601 NW 107th Ave, Doral, FL 33178), ask for Ms. Reardon (Residency Coordinator).
- On the day of the externship wear scrubs and your ID provided upon arrival. Please arrive by 8:00AM.

The University of Iowa will offer a virtual open house on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 7:00 pm Central Time. This informational introduction to the Iowa Pediatric Dentistry residency program will include an overview by the program director as well as an opportunity to speak with current residents and ask questions. Thank you for your interest in our program. The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry/Oklahoma Children’s Hospital OU Health pediatric dentistry residency will be hosting a virtual open house via Zoom on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm CST.

The pediatric dentistry residency program at the University of Pennsylvania/Children's Hospital of Philadelphia offers 1, 2, and 3 day in-person externships for third- and fourth-year dental students interested in our program. Virtual Externship/Information Sessions: We will have two sessions in the next few months (dates and times listed below). Each session will run from 10 AM to 1 PM PST. This will include a presentation about UW Pediatric Dentistry, a virtual tour of our clinic, and a panel discussion with our current residents, program administrators, and attendings, and an opportunity to ask questions.
