The ADA Policy Statement on Children’s Airway Health
and what it means to the practicing General, Pediatric
and Orthodontic practitioners.

Barry Raphael, DMD, a specialist in orthodontics and owner of the Center for Integrative Orthodontics in the New York City Metropolitan area, was involved in the planning committee for the ADA’s Second Conference on Children’s Airway Health in March of this year. The committee has set up task forces to clarify and implement key issues of the ADA Policy on the Role of Dentistry in Sleep-related Breathing Disorders (2017). So, what does this mean to you in your practice?

Dr. Raphael has spent the past 11 years altering his orthodontic thinking and protocols to handle the medical indications that children present. Priorities shift. Conversations change. Relationships matter even more. Networks grow. And orthodoxies once accepted as fact are now in question.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Review the evidence base and rationale for this shift in thinking.
  • Look at the assessment of patients for the medical indications for treatment.
  • Look at the broad range of services that can be offered to address the anatomical,
  • physiological and behavioral aspects of intervention.
  • Finally, address how you can begin to offer these services.

This course is intended for general, pediatric & orthodontic practitioners.
