Pediatric Sleep Disorders: Etiology, Management and Multidisciplinary Approach

Pediatric sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) have recently gained more attention as significant medical concerns. OSA, the most severe form of SDB, affects 1-5% of children, with 7 to 9 million impacted. This has led to increased efforts in the medical and dental communities to improve screening, diagnosis, and treatment. Physicians and dentists can play a key role in multidisciplinary teams managing OSA after diagnosis.

Attendees will understand the medical and dental causes of OSA and its impact on a child's quality of life. They will review current treatment methods and learn to screen for OSA using tools like the Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire (PSQ) and airway evaluations, making appropriate referrals for diagnosis.
