Pediatric Procedural Sedation: Evidence and Experience
Course objectives: Attendees will be able to describe what levels of evidence are available regarding procedural sedation in children and discuss practices that may be based on clinical experience and limitations.
Procedural sedation in children is an advanced behavior guidance technique. Both the AAPD and AAP have statements of best practices. This talk will dive into what levels of evidence are available and the limitations of evidence. Additionally, practices that are common in pediatric dental sedation that may not be based in evidence will also be examined and discussed in light of what evidence and trends have been observed.
