What do you do as a parent or caregiver if you have a little one that needs braces, but are not sure if it’s too soon for all that dental work? AAPD President Dr. Rhea M. Haugseth (Ga.) was interviewed by Woman’s Day Magazine for a Q&A about the recommended age for kids to see an orthodontist. Haugseth suggests that it’s good to start early to fix most of the dental work while the child is still young.
“Some problems can be corrected more effectively if you start early, which is why kids should get an orthodontic evaluation by age 7 at the latest,” said Haugseth.
The Q&A appeared in the October 17, 2011 issue of Woman’s Day magazine.
