Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center Pediatric Dentistry Advanced Education Program Program Length and Number of Positions This is a 24-month program beginning July 1st of each year. Description The Pediatric Dental Residency Program was started in 2001 and is fully accredited by the ADA Council on Dental Education. The program offers strong clinical and didactic training in all areas of pediatric dentistry including: interceptive orthodontics, restorative, oral surgery, sedation and oral rehabilitation under general anesthesia. The patient population is ethnically diverse and includes: healthy children, as well as developmentally, physically, medically and mentally handicapped children and adults. Upon completion the resident receives a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and meets the advanced education eligibility requirements of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Curriculum Pediatric dental residents receive clinical and didactic training from attending dentists and physicians representing dental and medical specialties. Hospital rotations include anesthesia, pediatric medicine and pediatric emergency room. During the second year, residents rotate through the Dental Department at the Rose F. Kennedy Center located in the Bronx, for in-depth clinical training with special needs patients. Literature review, treatment planning sessions and research presentations are also major components of the educational experience. Program Stipend and Tuition First year stipend is $56,334.
