Presentations from renowned experts will include a wide variety of educational and informational topics, ranging from new approaches for pediatric dentistry practices to a preconference course titled, "Fascinating Forensics - the CSI of Pediatric Dentistry." This year’s keynote speaker is American hero Marcus Luttrell, author of the Lone Survivor, who will share the harrowing story of his battle as a Navy Seal to stay alive while on tour in Afghanistan. According to AAPD President Dr. Rhea M. Haugseth, "I have been eagerly anticipating the upcoming AAPD 2012 annual session in San Diego, and am so looking forward to sharing all that San Diego offers with our AAPD members. I truly appreciate the support of the membership and the friendships that I have developed over the years. We are going to celebrate my year as president of the AAPD with an amazing conference in a truly memorable location!"
New this year, the AAPD is excited to offer its members a mobile conference application that takes everything about the Annual Session and puts it directly onto a mobile device. Attendees are able to prepare early by viewing speaker bios and build their personal itinerary ahead of time, as well as communicate with other attendees before and during the event via the live in-app Twitter feed.
"We are delighted to make a return to San Diego after a 14-year absence," stated AAPD CEO Dr. John S. Rutkauskas. "This is a prime location to host our members, and we anticipate a stimulating meeting in an idyllic setting."
