Dr. James Coll is a clinical professor at the University of Maryland Dental School in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a former member of the State Board of Dentistry of Pennsylvania and has been in private practice for 39 years in York, Pa. He has published numerous articles on primary tooth pulp therapy, and is a member of the Editorial Board and section editor for pulp therapy for Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Sue N. Seale is a regents professor, Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Baylor College of Dentistry, Texas A&M Health Science Center in Dallas, Texas. She was chairman of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Baylor from 1986 until 2009 where she still teaches weekly. She served on the board of trustees of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry from 1999-2002, was named AAPD Pediatric Dentist of the Year in 2001 and received their Merle C. Hunter Leadership Award in 2003. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a fellow in the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. She is currently editor-in-chief of Pediatric Dentistry and has published 85 articles in peer-reviewed journals and mentored numerous Master’s students.
Dr. Kaaren Vargas completed her pediatric dental specialty training in 1992 at Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, N.Y., and a Ph.D. in 1998 at the University of Iowa. She became a full time faculty member at the University of Iowa Department of Pediatric Dentistry that same year. She became a board-certified pediatric dentist in 2000. During her 10 years on staff, she was graduate program director, directed the program in sedation and taught numerous classes on cosmetic dentistry in children and interceptive orthodontics. She has also lectured extensively both nationally and internationally. Vargas is also very active in organized Pediatric Dentistry. She is past-president of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, she sits on numerous committees of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is currently one of the board members of the Iowa State Dental Board.
Dr. Abdullah Marghalani is currently a pediatric dentistry resident at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Baltimore, MD. As a graduate of ADA’s EBD workshop and an ADA evidence reviewer, he has extensive experience producing systematic reviews, critical summaries of published systematic reviews, and of applying evidence-based dentistry principles to oral health. Dr. Marghalani also serves as an ad hoc reviewer for Pediatric Dentistry. He completed a Doctorate in Public Health (DrPH) majoring in Epidemiology from Loma Linda University in 2014 and a Masters (MSD) in Dental Public Health from Boston University. Dr. Shahad AlShamali is currently completing an Advanced Pediatric Dentistry program for International Dentists at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Baltimore, MD. She is going to start Pediatric Dentistry residency at University of Illinois, Chicago Summer 2016. She completed the Bachelor of Medical Science degree and Bachelor of Dental Medicine, in 2010 and 2013 respectively with honor from Kuwait University, Faculty of Dentistry. Dr. AlShamali received many awards and honors for academic and research excellence locally and internationally. She won the regional 2013 IADR/Unilever Hatton Competition in Seattle, Washington- USA, and Hatton Competition Kuwaiti Division in 2013, among others. She has great interest in the management of children with special needs.
