When an impact to the head is forceful enough to knock out a child’s tooth, the child needs to be assessed neurologically, according to Joel Berg, D.D.S., president of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

A recent study by Case Western Reserve University researchers shows a link between obesity and cavities among children living in poverty. The study found that as those children age, the risk of obesity increases, as do the number of cavities.

According to DentistryIQ.com, this campaign is “starting a nationwide conversation on declining oral health.” The campaign stands on four foundations of good oral health care: brushing, flossing, using fluoride, and visiting the dentist regularly. The Kids’ Healthy Mouths website, 2min2x.org, features music and videos designed to inspire kids to brush their teeth twice a day for two minutes.
