Does Your Child Have a Dental Home?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that a dental home  be established with every child before 12 months of age, including a referral to dental specialists, as appropriate. Dr.  Warren A. Brill (Md.) authored a byline for Dentistry IQ in which he outlined the Age One visit in further detail, as well as the definition of a child’s dental home. In the article, Brill defined a dental home as the following:

 “... the ongoing relationship between the dentist and the patient, inclusive of all aspects of oral health care, delivered in a comprehensive, continuously accessible, coordinated, and family-centered way,” said Dr. Brill.
