Mighty Mouth: How to Keep Your Baby's Teeth Healthy and Strong for Years to Come
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) was highlighted in the December 2009 issue of American Baby magazine. The in-depth article, “Mighty Mouth: How to Keep Your Baby’s Teeth Healthy and Strong for Years to Come,” shared key AAPD recommendations including:
- All children need to see a pediatric dentist by the baby’s first birthday
- Brush each baby tooth as soon as it comes in
- Parents and caregivers need to supervise and help children brushing their teeth until about age seven
- Do not let an infant or toddler fall asleep with a bottle filled with anything but water
Also, Dr. Arthur J. Nowak, D.M.D., executive director of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry contributed to the story, helping to dispel parents’ myths and alleviate any concerns parents and caregivers may have about taking their baby to the dentist by age one.
