A Place to Turn for Dental Care

A Place To Turn for Dental Care

“Medical Care for Kids, No Questions Asked”

CBS Evening News: April 25, 2009

In response to the economic recession, dentists, doctors and other health care providers are treating children as part of the Children’s Health Fund Kids Can’t Wait Campaign. Of those providing complimentary health care, AAPD member Dr. James P. Stenger (Mich.) was interviewed by CBS news correspondent, Seth Doane, about the current health crisis and how it is directly affecting children.

"Early examination is very important," said Dr. Jim Stenger, a dentist at the Children's Heath Fund's mobile center, because small problems can turn into big ones if they aren't caught early.

According to the news report, 10 million children nationwide do not have easy access to medical care. In Detroit alone, 80-100,000 children do not have any medical insurance at all. The AAPD continues to meet with legislators to ensure all children receive  oral health care.
