Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Medicare Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) program was extended to Medicaid. The RAC program allows private contractors to demand patient records and conduct audits on providers while retaining a percentage of any refunds collected.

AAPD President, Dr. Edward Moody issued a statement to Dr.Bicuspid.com regarding last week’s U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) safety alert that oral viscous lidocaine 2% solution should not be used to treat infants and children with teething pain.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), the leading authority on children’s oral health, announced this year’s winners of several prestigious awards at its 2014 Annual Session in Boston. Included in the list of winners are Drs. Beverly A. Largent, Paul A. Kennedy, Jr., Anupama R. Tate, John A. Hendry, Amr M. Moursi, Jerome B. Miller, Brian S. Martin, James A. Coll, Alison D. Campbell and Natalia I. Chalmers.
 
The U.S. Supreme Court recently accepted a certiorari petition to hear the case of The North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners v. Federal Trade Commission. The AAPD contributed to the cost of and joined an Amici Curiae (friends of the court) legal brief in support of the North Carolina Dental Board.
