Reinstatement of AAPD Membership

Former members of the Academy who wish to rejoin must complete the following:

  1. Complete the formal application and send it with the required $50 reinstatement fee.
  2. Upon approval, the applicant is responsible for full amount of current annual dues payment.

Change in of Membership Status

  1. Complete the formal application for transfer indicating category of membership.
  2. An application fee is not required for current members changing classification of membership; the current annual dues are required upon approval.

Status Changes

Student

  1. Upon completing a postdoctoral educational program in pediatric dentistry send in Active Membership Application including certificate or degree in Pediatric Dentistry.
  2. Student Members of the Academy whose applications for Active Membership are received on or before December 31st in the same year as completion of their pediatric dental program do not pay an application fee. Also, first year's membership dues are waived, and second and third year's dues are reduced 50%.

Fellow
(Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, or a foreign equivalent, are eligible to apply directly for Fellow Membership.)

  1. Meets all requirements established for Active Membership Maintained or been eligible for Active Membership for not less than five (5) years (time spent in advanced pediatric dental program approved by the ADA may be credited toward fulfillment of this requirement).
  2. Submits an acceptable research project or case history to the Research Committee for approval.

Life

  1. Available to Active, Fellow and Retired members who have been members in good standing for twenty (20) consecutive years or for a total of twenty-five (25) years as an Active, Fellow, or Retired member, have reached the age of sixty-five (65) years, continue to fulfill the provisions set forth in Chapter I, Section 2 of the Constitution and Bylaws, and have paid dues and assessments through the calendar year in which application for Life membership is made.
  2. Membership Dues are reduced to 50% of Active Membership Dues.

Retired
Available to Active, Fellow or Associate members who have voluntarily and completely retired from dental practice, administration, and/or teaching, with the stipulation that the member has been either an Active, Fellow, or Associate dues-paying member for a minimum of ten (10) consecutive years. Retired members pay no dues.
