Membership Categories (Click to Expand)

Active - $590 Arrow_2

Applicant must meet all requirements.

  1. Member of the American or National Dental Association, or a foreign equivalent.
  2. Member of your local AAPD District and State Unit.
  3. Meets the educational requirements of the ADA for the announcement of ethical practice in Pediatric Dentistry.
  4. Submits a copy of the certificate or degree in the specialty of Pediatric Dentistry from an accredited program.
  5. Approved by the Credentials and Ethics Committee.

Procedures

  1. Complete the formal application and send it with an application fee of $100 (U.S. currency; not refundable) to the AAPD headquarters office.
  2. Submit a copy of a certificate or degree in the specialty of pediatric dentistry from a program approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
  3. List two (2) AAPD members as references on the application form.
  4. Student members of the AAPD whose applications for Active membership are received on or before Dec. 31 in the same year as completion of their pediatric dental program do not pay an application fee. Also, first-year membership dues are waived, and second- and third-year dues are reduced 50 percent.
  5. Applicant is responsible for the current annual dues prorated by the number of months remaining in the billing year from the date of acceptance of membership.

Privileges

  1. Vote on all issues brought before the General Assembly.
  2. Hold office and serve on councils/committees.
  3. Attend the AAPD Annual Session.
  4. Receive copies of all general membership communications and publications.
 

International - $330 Arrow_2

Applicant must meet one of the requirements.

  1. This category of membership is available to dentists living and practicing, teaching, or conduction research outside of the United States or Canada who maintain membership in a foreign dental association.
  2. Educationally-qualified pediatric dentists, except those in Federal Services, otherwise eligible for Active membership who live and practice, teach or conduct research outside the United States or Canada.
Procedure

 

  1. Complete the formal application and send it with an application fee of $50 (U.S. currency; not refundable) to the AAPD headquarters office.
  2. Submit a copy of a certificate or degree in the specialty of pediatric dentistry from a program approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
  3. List two (2) professional colleagues as references on the application form.
  4. Applicant is responsible for the current annual dues prorated by the number of months remaining in the billing year from the date of acceptance of membership.

Applicant must meet all of the requirements.

  1. Dentists who are educationally qualified in one of the other specialty areas of dentisry recognized by the American Dental Association, and pediatricians and other physicians.

  1. Complete the formal application and send it with an application fee of $50 (U.S. currency; not refundable) to the AAPD headquarters office.
  2. List two (2) professional colleagues as references on the application form.
  3. Applicant is responsible for the current annual dues prorated by the number of months remaining in the billing year from the date of acceptance of membership.

Affiliate - $295 Arrow_2 

Applicant must meet all of the requirements.

  1. Dentists who are not pediatric dentists or any other recognized specialty by the ADA.
  2. Member of the American or National Dental Association, or a foreign equivalent.

  1. Complete the formal application and send it with an application fee of $50 (U.S. currency; not refundable) to the AAPD headquarters office.
  2. List two (2) professional colleagues as references on the application form.

Privileges

  1. Elect an Affiliate representative to serve as a full voting member of the AAPD Board of Trustees.
  2. Attend the AAPD Annual Session.
  3. Serve on councils/committees, but not vote in the General Assembly or hold office in the AAPD.
  4. Receive copies of all general membership communications and publications.
  5. Attend and participate in all AAPD continuing education opportunities.

Note: Affiliate members may not use the Academy name, membership status logo or imply special expertise or training in pediatric dentistry.

Allied - $147.50 Arrow_2

Applicant must meet all of the requirements.

  1. This category of membership is available to dental and medical allied health professionals, including dental hygienists, dental assistants, pediatric nurses, office managers and physician assistants, whose interests are consistent with the mission of the AAPD.

  1. Complete the formal application and send it with the application fee of $50 (U.S. currency non refundable) to the AAPD headquarters office.
  2. List two professional colleagues as references on the application form.

Applicant must meet all of the requirements.

  1. This category of membership is available to any individual who does not qualify for any of the other AAPD membership categories, but whose interests are consistent with the misssion of the AAPD.

  2. List two professional colleagues as references on the application form.

Predoctoral - $27 Arrow_2

Applicant must meet all of the requirements.

  1.  This category of membership is available to Predoctoral students enrolled in an educational program in dentistry approved by the Commision on Dental Accreditation of the U.S. or Canada.

Postdoctoral - Free of Charge Arrow_2

Applicant must meet one of the requirements.

  1. This category of membership is available, upon formal application to full and part-time  students enrolled in an educational program in pediatric dentistry approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the U.S. or Canada.

Procedure

  1. Complete the formal postdoctoral application and send it to the AAPD headquarters office.

Privileges

  1. Attend the AAPD Annual Session.
  2. Receive copies of all general membership communication and publications.
  3. Attend and participate in all AAPD continuing education opportunities.

International Student - $25 Arrow_2 

Applicant must meet all of the requirements.

  1. This category of membership is available, upon formal application, to full and part-time students enrolled in any educational program in dentistry or pediatric dentistry in a country other than the United States or Canada, that is approved by a national accreditation organization comparable to the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the U.S. or Canada.

Procedure

  1. Complete the formal international application and send it with the application fee of $25 (U.S. currency non refundable) to the AAPD headquarters office
  2. List two professional colleagues as references on the application form.

Privileges

  1. Attend the AAPD Annual Session.
  2. Receive copies of all general membership communication and publications.

International Colleague - $100 Arrow_2

This category of membership is available to dentists living and practicing, teaching, or conducting research outside of the United States or Canada in countries classified as Low Middle Income or Low Income by the World Bank who maintain membership in a foreign dental association or the International Academy of Pediatric Dentistry or one of its national or regional member organizations. Educationally-qualified pediatric dentists living, practicing, teaching or conducting research in such countries are not eligible for this category of membership. This is an electronic online membership. No print publications will be sent.

Procedure

  1. Complete the formal application, indicating the new category of membership, and send it to the AAPD headquarters office.
  2. An application fee is not required for current members changing classification of membership; the current annual dues are required upon approval.

Reinstatement of Membership Arrow_2

Procedure

  1. Complete the formal application and send it with required $50 reinstatement fee. Upon approval, applicant is responsible for full amount of current annual dues payment.
