Even if a child brushes their teeth regularly, it is very difficult to clean the tiny grooves and pits on certain teeth, especially the teeth in the back of the mouth. Sealants "seal out" food and plaque and reduce the risk of decay. Sealants are made of clear or shaded plastic and last for many years. This brochure discusses the benefits of sealants, as well as treatment and cost concerns.

Nitrous oxide is the safe and effective technique used to calm a child's fear of the dental visit. Nitrous oxide is a blend of two gases- oxygen and nitrous oxide. When inhaled, it is absorbed by the body and has a calming effect. Nitrous oxide is perhaps the safest sedative in dentistry since the child remains fully conscious during treatment. Discussed within the brochure are ways to prepare the child for treatment and the effectiveness of the treatment on children.
