General Anesthesia Legislation
 

Below is a map highlighting the current status of general anesthesia legislation in the states, an advocacy effort begun by the AAPD in the mid-1990s and coordinated through the Council on Dental Benefit Programs.

Such legislation requires medical insurance plans to cover general anesthesia and associated operating room costs for children who require treatment for oral disease in a hospital or ambulatory surgical setting. There are slight variances in these laws by states, and the AAPD maintains an up to date state-by-state chart.
