Health Care Reform: AAPD Opposes Excise Tax Provisions

The AAPD joined a broad range of dental organizations and employee unions in opposing the proposed excise tax on health care plans above a certain dollar threshold (the so-called "cadillac plan" tax). In a letter sent to the White House and key Congressional leaders on Jan. 11, 2010, the groups explained how this proposal would likely cause many employers to reduce or drop their dental insurance coverage. AAPD believes health care reform should focus on extending care to the un-insured, not disrupting current coverage that is working well.
