Investing in Dentists Caring for Children
Pediatric dentist leadership is critical to HSHC's mission of helping children in need, so the AAPD Leadership Institute provides the opportunity for pediatric dentists to grow and refine their skills to become leading advocates in the fight for children's oral health care.
The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University developed a curriculum designed to help participants hone their philosophical and operational understanding of leadership in order to help maximize their potential and performance.
Leadership Institute is a three-year program encompassing a four-day on-campus experience each December at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. Including the Leadership Institute class which graduated in December 2012, more than 90 pediatric dentists and corporate partners have completed the program.
Applications now are being accepted for the Leadership Institute Cohort IV. Selected applicants will begin their coursework December 12-15, 2013. Cohort sizes are limited so apply today. Here is a full description of the program, including key dates, tuition payment information and program requirements.
Leadership Institute was established in 2004 thanks to a $1 million grant from Ultradent Products.
Advanced Leadership Institute
Inspired by the success of the first three Leadership Institute Cohorts at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, the AAPD and HSHC partnered with The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania to develop the Advanced Leadership Institute (ALI) to further build the skills of Leadership Institute graduates.
The first ALI Cohort met in March 2012 and completed their training with presentations to the AAPD Board of Trustees in January 2013 answering the overarching project question: "How can the AAPD achieve and sustain the goal of being the authority of children’s oral health in the U.S.?"
Plans are in development to establish ALI Cohort II during the next two to three years.
