District VI
AAPD
The Western Society of Pediatric Dentistry was officially established in May of 2002. Eight States comprised the inaugural group defining District VI of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Western Canada (British Columbia) constitute District VI.
Vision Statement
The Vision of the Western Society of Pediatric Dentistry is providing outstanding membership services and effective communications between and amongst the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, its component districts and the State/Province Units of WSPD.
Mission Statement
The Mission of the Western Society of Pediatric Dentistry is to provide outstanding membership services and to facilitate communications between and amongst the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, its component districts and the State/Province Units of WSPD.
Purpose
- Facilitate communications between AAPD and State Units/Provinces of District VI
- Cultivate leaders
- Develop mechanism to accept names of candidates for AAPD Councils and Committees
- Accept State Unit nominations for District VI Trustee and to select Trustee
- Select a representative for 3 year tenure on AAPD's Nominations Committee
- Provide continuing education opportunities for members
The Society serves as a facilitator for improving and expanding the communications between our national organization and individual state units. It provides a more meaningful mechanism for identifying, cultivating and supporting potential leaders to serve on AAPD committees, councils and the board of trustees. In the quest to fulfill these charges, the Society leadership has completed its formal incorporation, developed lines of governance and scheduled strategic planning sessions that will guide us into the future.
