A Message from your President

It is my pleasure to invite you to the 63rd Annual Session of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) held in Chicago, home of the AAPD Headquarters Office. Plans are being made for a spectacular event. The hotel for the Annual Session is the Hilton Chicago, situated across from Grant Park, just a short walk to Lake Michigan, the Museum Campus, Millennium Park and the Magnificent Mile. The Hilton Chicago Hotel is a Chicago landmark and promises to be the perfect environment for a hometown meeting.

Chicago is home to more than 200 theaters, 45 museums and outdoor attractions such as Lake Michigan, 29 beaches, 19 bicycle paths, seven golf courses and 552 parks, plus the Lincoln Park Zoo among other cultural attractions. The welcome reception "Sweet Home Chicago" takes place at the hotel and two ballrooms are being transformed into a traditional Chicago Blues Club. Attendees and guests alike can take the opportunity to sit back in one of the lounge areas or liven things up on the dance floor in the club.

The scientific program promises to deliver the cutting-edge topics you've come to expect at the Annual Session. Expert faculty from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University gets the program started on Thursday as a teaser to the Leadership Institute. The keynote this year features an interactive panel of industry leaders discussing topics relevant to your practice followed by a presentation designed by Second City Communications. The scientific session programming takes place at the Hilton Chicago, making it convenient for everyone. Look for some changes in the schedule which differ from last year's meeting.

Back by popular demand - the New Dentist Happy Hour is being held at Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago which is just a short walking distance from the Hilton Chicago. This event is only for the early practitioners, although we know you're all young at heart.

Make plans now to attend the Presidents' Farewell Dinner held at the newly opened Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago. As you know, Chicago is known as a culinary hub and the menu will not disappoint, nor will the views. Take advantage of the special events planned during the meeting to spend time networking at these magnificent venues throughout the city.

I would like to extend a special thanks to Steven Kuhn and Indru Punwani, the local arrangements chairs. Their work to make this a memorable event is appreciated by me, and will be noticed by all.

See you in AAPD's kind of town!
