AAPD Member Concludes Fourth Installment of CE Series with Dimensions of Dental Hygiene
February 21, 2013 04:28 PM
Dr. Jeffrey A. Dean and his colleagues fulfilled AAPD’s four-part CE series in the December issue of Dimensions of Dental Hygiene in an article titled, "Managing the Developing Occlusion."
As the article states, "Managing the developing occlusion involves understanding normal eruption sequence and timing. Dental hygienists must also be aware of common signs of atypical development, occlusal patterns, tooth loss, or potentially harmful developmental oral habits. Early intervention with appliances that maintain space, correct malocclusions, or guide the eruption and positioning of teeth can help reduce the need for additional orthodontic interventions. Involving patients and parents in the development of good oral hygiene practice can lead to improved patient outcomes."
